The Department of Education (DepEd) has confirmed the suspension of classes in the northern part of Luzon due to the approaching super Typhoon Juan (international codename: Megi).
DepEd has suspended classes in all levels in Regions 1, 2, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) due to the threat brought about by Typhoon Juan. DepEd Undersecretary Alberto Muyot confirmed that there will be no classes in these areas on Monday, October 18, 2010. He reiterated that the cancellation of classes are based on existing guidelines of the DepEd regarding class suspensions.
For college level however, the suspension of classes is under the discretion of the colleges and universities concerned, and also upon orders of the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd), Muyot clarified.
